Twenty-four Plexus industrial and surfacing adhesives have been certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) as low-emissions products suitable for indoor environments.
GREENGUARD certification means that Plexus Adhesives meet the institute's stringent emission requirements for health, irritation and odor concerns. GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® adhesives are ideal for the assembly of countertops, boat hulls, truck cabs and other products for use in enclosed environments. Certification is based primarily on an adhesive's emissions at 168 hours (7 days) after unpackaging. Six times throughout that period, under strictly controlled testing protocols in dynamic environmental chambers that produce airflow patterns resembling those of a home or office, an independent laboratory measures air-sample concentrations of formaldehyde, 4-phenylcyclohexene, styrene and a wide spectrum of volatile organic compounds.

Six 3M industrial adhesives have been certified to the GREENGUARD Children & Schools standard-the highest certification offered by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. These adhesive help woodworking, furniture and mattress manufacturers pursue LEED® rated projects and help improve overall worker safety. Five of the six adhesives have water-based characteristics that match the high performance of 3M solvent-based counterparts, while the low-VOC, solvent-based adhesive (3M Scotch-Weld Cylinder Spray Adhesive 94CA) maintains its clean finish and rapid dry time for contact bonding. These adhesives are available in a variety of sizes, including portable cylinders which offer aerosol convenience with bulk productivity.

Jowat's single component and reactive JOWAPUR products for vinyl membrane pressing have set new standards. The patented water-based formulas enable them to resist temperatures up to 1000C (2120F), depending on the materials and application, and in many cases even beyond that, yet they are just as easy to apply and will always provide the powerful, long-lasting bond Jowat adhesives are known for. Franklin International has introduced its first completely formaldehyde-free, water-resistant, one-part x-PVAc adhesive for lamination. The new Multibond 4000 FF meets rigorous standards for water resistance, including ANSI HPVA EF 2002 Type II specification and the tough European DIN EN 204 D3 standard. While other formulas can claim that level of water resistance, most contain some degree of trace formaldehyde. In contrast to these water-resistant PVAc adhesives, the advanced new Multibond 4000 FF contains zero formaldehyde. End products fabricated with MB4000 FF would pass stringent formaldehyde rules in California, Japanese Four Star, the European EO formaldehyde-emission standards and the LEED® low-emitting materials requirement

Premier Bond PB2008 is a versatile, high performance water-based industrial contact adhesive. PB2008 is water resistant and temperature resistant. It is designed for bonding decorative laminates to particleboard but may also be used on a variety of other substrates including veneers,
foam, headliners, glass and mirrors, cork, tile, fiberglass and plastics. The aerosol system reduces application cost by saving time and material. PB2008 is available in self-contained, totally portable 9- and 30-lb. aerosol canisters, which reduces application cost by saving time and material. One large canister is equivalent to 12 to 16 buckets of lap cement.

Henkel PURBOND® HB E452 and PURBOND® HB E032 are the only polyurethane adhesives to pass all tests for ANSI/AITC 405-2008 certification, the company says. Roo SuperBond is an environmentally friendly, water-based wood adhesive with no added urea formaldehyde and very low VOCs. It has high water resistance, heat resistance, a fast setting speed and conforms to Type II water resistance standards. Roo SuperBond can be used in a wide variety of wood bonding applications, interior and exterior. It is ideal for edge and face gluing, finger jointing, patios, decks and veneer laminating. Roo SuperBond is approved by the FDA for indirect food contact, making it the ideal adhesive for cutting boards and counter tops. It is the perfect glue for furniture, millwork, counter tops and everything in between.

Franklin Adhesives & Polymers, a division of Franklin International, introduces two higher viscosity versions of its original Titebond 50 aliphatic resin emulsion adhesive — Titebond 50 HV and Titebond 50 HHV. Titebond 50 HV has a high viscosity of 12,000 to 15,000 cps — easily tripling the thickness of the original adhesive. This viscosity resists running, ensuring neater glue-ups and reducing time spent in cleaning machinery and the work area. The new Titebond 50 HHV has an even higher viscosity of 19,000 to 21,000 cps and is drip-free, eliminating glue dribble during assembly of wood products. Although both new Titebond 50 versions are thicker, they retain all the valued characteristics of the original adhesive. All three Titebond 50 products provide excellent creep- and heat resistance for superior bonding. They also offer a very low minimum-use temperature of two degrees Celsius and can be applied during cold months. Additionally, a fast setting time increases plant productivity, and powerful bond strength enhances product quality.
